The days of being just a dancer are over. Separate singing and dancing ensembles are a practice of the past. Broadway producers want to invest in an ensemble of virtuosic storytellers that can do everything. The Broadway Dance Collective was created to answer the call of sharing the tools to navigate our ever evolving industry by current working Broadway professionals.

"The quest for better technique should never end because only when you can command the instrument can you truly be free to be the divine vessel. Practice makes perfect! In class the dancer should practice the connection between the physical and the emotional, going beyond what you thought was possible should never be a surprise on stage."

GUEST TEACHING ARTISTS
Musical Theatre Jazz
You will be immersed in Original Tony Award Winning Broadway Jazz choreography. From the classics we will cover a diverse repertoire.
Our teaching artist have danced the following choreographers works on Broadway:
Wayne Cilento, Bob Fosse, Donald Byrd, Warren Adams, Patti Wilcox, Robert Longbottom, Shane Sparks, Galen Hooks, Kathleen Marshall, Randy Skinner, Jerry Mitchell, Sergio Trujilio, Christopher Gatelli, Peter Darling, Jerome Robbins, Josh Bergasse, Rob Ashford, Susan Stroman, Warren Carlyle, and Josh Rhodes.
Musical Theatre Tap
So many trained dancers are afraid of tapping in auditions, but you’d be surprised how many Broadway choreographers have hired "dancer dancers" and taught them how to tap in the rehearsal process. Even if tap is not "what you do" taking yourself out of your comfort zone will place you strides ahead of the competition.
In the Tap class you will focus on
If you’re a fantastic dancer chances are you will make it through the dance cut, but the most important factor in booking the job is nailing your 16 bar vocal audition.
In the vocal performance class you will learn how to warm up your voice and how to select a great audition song. The best part is you will walk away that day with sheet music in hand to bring into any audition with confidence. We’re gonna get you singing.
What are the age/level requirements?
Students of all levels and ages 7 and up are welcome to join us. Classes however will move at a fast professional pace. Even if you are a beginner you should attend to see what is going to be required in the real world. Students will be split into 3 groups based on age and level. Each group will work with each Broadway Teaching Artists that day.
What If I’m a Singer/mover is this right for me?
Absolutely. This is a perfect opportunity to hone your audition skills in nailing your dance call. If you’re a “singer singer” who says “vocal acrobatics” when asked for special skills you need to be here. In your final callback for a Broadway show everyone up for the ensemble WILL dance the same combination. Don’t be fooled when they tell you there will be a “movers combination”. They don’t exists anymore. Come get the tools necessary to book the job when Broadway calls.
